THE LAST WESTERN screening at Makor

Posted by: Guest

This past Thursday night, July 20th, marked the second successful collaborative event with the Woodstock Film Festival and Makor . We screened Chris Deutsch’s fine documentary, The Last Western . The film, about the strange, only-in-California postmodern tourist attraction/Western movie backdrop Pioneertown, was a hit with the audience members, among them, food historian Betty Fussell and theater director Stephan Morrow . Mom, Dad, and Betty (That’s my mom and dad with Betty). The film is even more timely now that wildfires in California destroyed a huge part of the historic town. Photos It’s really a tragedy to have a natural disaster (perhaps propelled by the increasingly warming globe (see Al Gore’s An Incovenient Truth if you’re not sufficiently prepared for the apocalypse by now) raze to the ground such a unique slice of Americana. For more fun photos of the good times !
Stay tuned for reports of our next event on Tuesday, August 1st, a screening of the fabulous, award-winning doc Crossing Arizona . Buy tickets here with the special discount code: ARIZ.
