Daily Comments Thread for Download-To-Own (Sep 17-23)

Posted on Sunday, September 17th, 2006 by Bob

We’ve had dozens of successful downloads since we made Bush’s Brain available, incorporating our new Apple mac client as well as the XP version of the IndiePix Disc Factory, some of them even international! This is a terrific system and it makes it possible to offer very high quality, living room presentations on-demand. We’re eager to hear your comments and suggestions, which is why we’ve opened this thread.

As you know, we are running a major campaign with Download-to-Own over the next period of time, and we are eager for your comments about how it worked and what we can do to make it better! Our download process is both XP and mac compatible — no-one is excluded from this opportunity! And no-one is excluded from offering comments! Thanks.

I’m Seeing Those Purple Shards Again

Queen Kira
“The Dark Crystal” was one of my all-time favorite movies growing up. Shot entirely on soundstages and using live puppeteers by the magnificent Jim Henson, the film is a pre-CG classic which emanates multo saudade for those born in the late 70s/early 80s. It tells the story of two rivaling clans trapped in a spiritual debate over a missing crystal shard that will restore unity to the universe. 14 years later, the Henson Company has decided to revive Jen and Kira for a sequel, “Power of the Dark Crystal”, which is set to pick up thousands of years after the film ends. Jen and Kira are now King and Queen (that’s Queen Kira up on top looking pretty rad), fighting desperately to restore the Crystal after it is split once again, by a girl made of fire who wants to restore the dying sun (!). My two main prerequisites: 1) no CG, 2) get the original production team back on board - that includes renowned fairy artist Brian Froud, and, ofcourse, Frank Oz (aka Yoda). The film shoots this fall and will come out in 2008.
