London Times Honors City Unplugged - Top 10 List
When I first saw Ilkka Jarvilaturi’s CITY UNPLUGGED (formerly titled DARKNESS IN TALLIN) , I knew I had happened upon a gem hidden in some dusty suitcase in the corner of a rarely-visited attic. After weeks of preparation, IndiePix was not only able to acquire and manufacture the Finnish director’s award-winning film, but also help facilitate the Estonian
theatrical premiere of the movie. Now, the rest of the world (or at least that Island across the Atlantic) is starting to catch up with us. The good folks at the London Times have listed the film as Number Two on their list of the “The ten best crime movies“. Following Demme’s Oscar-nominated SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (the only film in Oscar history to feature a transexual vamping around in a suit of flesh), CITY UNPLUGGED/DARKNESS IN TALLIN is in the company of a very diverse array of films, ranging from relatively unknown (the Icelandic thriller JAR CITY) to perennial frat house favorite RESERVOIR DOGS. I for one, feel Jarvilaturi’s understated and elegant thriller is deserving of this accolade. Take a chance and see if you agree with me. The film is available here.
