Okay, okay, echoes of Tyra Banks or that obnoxious announcer from THE BACHELOR are now ringing in my ears (”The most shocking episode YET!”) but in all seriousness, this summer’s installment of ROOFTOP FILMS is poised to be invigorating, exciting, funny, drunken, stimulating, romantic, sexy, wacky, crazy, cool, hip, whatever — all the best adjectives jumbled up into a hodgepodge of films, music, panels, and free booze. What is better than that? This Friday brings “Romance Shorts” (not necessarily my favorite topic right now though the subtitle “Love, Lust, and Sexual Confusion” makes it much more palatable), while the next couple months promise a wonderfully curated program of independent film gems, from Zachary Levy’s STRONGMAN to Jennifer Maytorena Taylor’s NEW MUSLIM COOL, as well as the always wildly popular programs devoted to New York Nonfiction and Dark ‘Toons.
