Shot in Cinema Vérité style, against the once industrial urban landscape of Buffalo, 21 BELOW captures the real ‘real life’ of an American family in crisis. Angry, complex and at times funny, the story unfolds as a compassionate portrait of a family coming apart and the compromises required for reconciliation.

21 BELOW is a very special film for IndiePix as our studio selected first-time filmmakers Samantha Buck, Jenny Maguire and Sophia Raab Downs and helped produce, launch and distribute the film. “Without IndiePix we wouldn’t have a film,” explains Samantha Buck, Director of 21 BELOW. “The fact that it has been able to dedicate so much time and money to our film in the current economy is incredible. Ours was the first film to be chosen by the newly created IndiePix Studios in 2008 and the team has been very supportive ever since.”

Since producing five worldwide successes, including THE END OF AMERICA, P-Star Rising, Toots, and ENTRE NOS, 21 BELOW is IndiePix’s fifth and final ‘Release Slate 08′ production. These films are already attracting international attention and their calendars are filled with festivals from Pusan, Korean to Helsinki, Finland.
