Screening at 10 Downing St

Dogwoof Films based in London is the UK distribution partner for IndiePix. We are proud of their work and extremely pleased to be associated with them. This morning’s email (June 19) carried the following report …

Last night, on the eve of the 64th Birthday of Burma’s detained pro-democracy leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi, No.10 Downing Street held a private screening of our forthcoming cinema release Burma VJ, the first time that a film screening had taken place there.Woof!

Sarah Brown hosted the screening of a film that exposes the atrocities and injustices that have been taking place under the Military regime. Burma VJ contains footage filmed over a number of days using concealed cameras by VJs (video journalists). The undercover network of VJs recorded the appalling treatment of the Burmese citizens and monks which caused a global uproar after their peaceful protests resulted in violent opposition by their government. The VJs risked torture, imprisonment and even death in their quest to report what is going on in their closed country.

The director of Burma VJ, Anders Østergaard, was also present at Downing Street and participated in a discussion lead by Ivan Lewis, Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs.

Burma VJ will be screened on Tuesday 14th July at a nationwide “Saffron Premiere”. [IndiePix Note: Please check the link for the "Saffron Premiere" to see how elegantly this has been organized.]

Join the campaign, book your tickets for the premiere, and sign up for more information at the official website www.burmavjmovie.com.
