IndiePix Acquires “Frontrunner” — DVD Jan 12
17 December 2009 — NY, NY: IndiePix Films announced today the acquisition of distribution rights to “Frontrunner”, from director Virginia Williams, Emmy Award-winning producer of documentaries for Discovery Channel, PBS, and National Geographic, and Co-Producer Halima Kazem, award-winning Afghan American reporter. This doc tells the heroic story of Jalal, a medical doctor and mother of three who runs for president of Afghanistan. As a children’s advocate, she defied the murderous Taliban regime and now she is the only woman in a field of 17 candidates. In a dramatic turn of events, she holds the fate of the country’s first presidential election in her own hands. Amidst death threats and bomb attacks, Jalal doggedly campaigns from the back of a taxi, in mosques, in homes, in busy markets and in the streets. Her courage shows that it’s the dangerous work done by ordinary Afghans that will determine the fate of a newly born democracy. IndiePix will manage the distribution of this film in broadcast, DVD, digital and new media markets worldwide. For more information on this title, check out the film page. For information about the distribution of this title, please contact Alanna Raben, IndiePix at alanna@indiepix.net and include the film name in the subject line of your email. The deal was negotiated by Jason Tyrrell of IndiePix and director Virginia Williams.
