June 15, 2014 – IndiePix Films acquires all rights to “SHIPS”
June 15, 2014 — IndiePix Films announced that it has acquired all rights to FERAHFEZA, “Ships”, a first feature film from Elif Refig, a much recognized filmmaker from Turkey.
The film centers on a young shipyard worker who during the day thinks about the importance of coincidences in life. One such coincidence is his encounter with a graffiti artist, a strong and energetic woman, with whom he will explore escape from his daily routine. The film style is described by the filmmaker as “romantic-punk”.
Ships won the Special Jury Prize and the International Federation of Film Critics (“FIPRESCI”) prize at the European Film Festival in 2013. Ms. Refig won the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Best Foreign Filmmaker award for her earlier short film (“Man To Be”). She is a graduate of Columbia University. See her filmography here
IndiePix Films plans a limited art house release this Fall and a full DVD and digital channels release in the United States early next year. The film will also be offered in selected international markets through IndiePix related channels.
The distribution deal was negotiated between the filmmaker, Ms. Refig, and Jordan Mattos, Director of Programming at IndiePix Films.
