IndieWire and Camden International Film Festival are teaming up to provide a cash prize to one lucky filmmaker during their Points North Pitch contest.  Read the full press release below:

The Camden International Film Festival has made a mark as one of the leading regional documentary film festivals in the United States, not only screening the best in documentary film but also housing the Points North Documentary Forum, where leading members of the doc community work with filmmakers to help them hone their projects.

All of this culminates in the Points North Pitch, where six documentary filmmakers pitch their projects to a panel of industry leaders. The best pitch wins a $1,000 cash prize.

Indiewire and CIFF are joining forces this year to give one filmmaker the chance to pitch their project at Points Northand be a part of Indiewire’s Project of the Week contest. For the first time in its history, the Points North Forum, which once focused on New England-based filmmakers, is now open to documentary projects from across the United States.

Here’s how it works:

  • For the last week of August, August 27 thru 30, all Projects of the Day will be CIFF Points North Pitch submissions, selected by Indiewire.
  • August 31-Sept 3, readers will select one of the CIFF projects as Project of the Week.
  • The winner will receive — in addition to a consultation from SnagFilms and eligibility for Project of the Month – a guaranteed spot at the Points North Pitch, two passes to the Camden International Film Festival and Points North Forum and accommodations for the duration of the festival.
  • While projects must submit to the pitch by August 31, 2012, prospective pitches must have applied to CIFF and filled out the form below by Sunday August 26, 2012, at midnight in order to be eligible for the CIFF/Indiewire Project of the Day.
