July 30 – INDIEPIX FILMS ACQUIRES DISTRIBUTION RIGHTS TO DICK: THE DOCUMENTARY

Monday, August 4th, 2014 by

New York, NY (July 30, 2014) — IndiePix Films today announced that it has acquired all domestic rights to DICK: THE DOCUMENTARY, a co-production of first time documentary filmmaker Brian Fender and Isotope Films, the production company of acclaimed documentary producer/ director Chiemi Karasawa. The film is characterized by a thoughtful discussion of male sexuality by 63 men across a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and orientations. IndiePix plans the on-line equivalent of a theatrical presentation, opening in mid-September of 2014, with an exclusive on-line 90-day general market streaming premier presentation, followed by a home and institutional market release in January of 2015.

The agreement was negotiated for IndiePix by Bob Alexander, Consultant to IndiePix Films, and for the Filmmaker by Isotope Films.

Mr. Fender described the film: “it’s touching, it’s funny, it’s honest … an honest depiction of what it means from first perceptions all the way to the loss of function that men experience … I thought that they were incredibly thoughtful.” Producer/Director Karasawa points out that the festival and screening audiences who have typically been more than half women, were fully engaged in a discussion seldom if ever seen so frankly presented.

Ms. Karasawa’s production company joined this project in 2011. Her most recent projects include “Elaine Stritch: Shoot Me” and “Harry Dean Stanton: Partly Fiction”. Mr Alexander was an Executive Producer of Ms. Karasawa’s film “Billy The Kid” which won top honors at SXSW and the Los Angeles International Film Festival in 2007.
