Black History Month/African Diaspora

Wednesday, February 10th, 2016 by

The experience of blackness in America is distinct from that of the African diaspora. During Black History Month, it’s a subject that’s rarely discussed. There are historical matters to take into account that require shedding light on, that are specific to the black experience in the United States. We would like to include a selection of films that engage both the African-American experience as well as the African community at large. These films range from visceral documentaries to a celebration of musical talent, uniting the voices of filmmakers from both continents to reveal a more nuanced picture.
