Collaborator @ IFC this June 18th!
NYC’s Independent Film Center will be holding the City-wide premiere of Martin Donovan’s directorial debut “Collaborator”. Donovan, who wrote, directed, and starred in the film, will be in attendance for a post-film discussion with producer Ted hope and star David Morse moderated by special guest Hal Hartley.
This marks a special reunion for Hartley who directed Donovan in iconic films such as “Trust” which gave him his first starring role over 20 years ago. Today Donovan is best known for his work in TV shows like “Boss” and “Weeds” as well as film roles in “Saved!” and “The Opposite of Sex.”
The film tells the riveting and insightful story of famous playwright Robert Longfellow (Martin Donovan) as he struggles with the failure of his recent Broadway play, a marriage on the brink of infidelity, and a confrontation with childhood neighbor Gus (David Morse) while he retreats to the safety of his mother (Katherine Helmond) and childhood home.
The film reaches a gripping standstill as Gus holds Robert hostage during a drunken reunion gone wrong, letting the drama unfold as conflicts past and present converge to paint the portrait of two men who will be forever changed. The film will also be open for a one-week engagement July 6th. For more information on the screening head over to IFC Center’s webpage.
