A Worldwide Indie Lens

Thursday, January 12th, 2012 by

Every year new thoughts and experiments are performed in the world of independent filmmaking that show just how necessary it is to have a separation from big budget films which work to satisfy the one note of profit at the expense of a sonata of deep, intellectual product.

Kimi Takesue, a documentary filmmaker with credits in directing shorts Suspended and Heaven’s Crossroads, is interviewed in this short segment to explain the project launched to get a fresh, new perspective on the filmmaking culture of Africa.

Several filmmakers from around the world are charged with delving into this specific continent with their own unique perspectives in filmmaking in order to discover every orifice of understanding that can be achieved by a film to its audience. Yet another chapter in the tradition of maintaining film as an art form rather than simply a pocket-stuffer, make sure to catch this unique series as the films become available.

Takesue’s film, Where Are You Taking Me?, will screen in Los Angeles at the UCLA Billy Wilder Theater on Jan. 15th @ 7:00PM.
