While not independent film per say, democracy in its own right is the foundation on which speaking your mind through non-mainstream film was built (maybe the candidates can swing the cinephile vote with that reference). See democracy at work as the world will witness the second Presidential debate between incumbent Barack Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney in what is sure to be yet another swing in the direction of the more poignant candidate.
