Less Action, More Acting in Upcoming Chan Films

Friday, May 18th, 2012 by

Jackie Chan told the AP on Friday that his latest film “Chinese Zodiac” will be his last action movie.

People are quite reluctant to believe that Jackie, famous for not only his determination and stamina in denying the use of stunt doubles but for his love of what he does, but he assures that this is something that had to happen at some point.

“They say ‘no, you’re still young, you can still do it,’ but I have to stop one day.”

The 58-year-old says he is bowing out with Chinese Zodiac because it’s one of the “most important” films in his career.

Chan wrote, produced, directed and coordinated fights scenes for the film. The plot follows a man as he searches the world for 12 mystical artifacts – the bronze heads of each of the animals in the Chinese zodiac.

Surely, with Chan’s breadth of films and large fan base there is sure to be some trepidation over the end of Chan films but he promises that he’ll continue to make films, but with more acting than action: citing Robert DeNiro and Clint Eastwood his role models.
